It is now time to go to Chia-Hao’s place. María packs her bag: she brings the desert that she just made and she also brings her favourite drink from Barcelona. During the bus ride, she is thinking about all this intercultural evening: a girl from Spain who is going to celebrate New Year in Quebec City with her Taiwanese friend. Even if she is happy, she starts to be anxious: “What would happen if I do not understand Chia-Hao’s culture? Is it a good idea to bring a desert? I do not want him to feel uncomfortable.” It is the first time María will celebrate New Year’s Eve in another country. Moreover, she will celebrate it in a Taiwanese way. Her head is spinning.

C’est maintenant le temps d’aller chez Chia-Hao. María fait son sac: elle apporte le dessert, mais aussi sa boisson barcelonaise préférée. « Ce sera une belle soirée », pense-t-elle. Pendant le trajet en autobus, elle pense à cette soirée interculturelle: une Espagnole célébrera la nouvelle année à Québec avec son ami taïwanais. Même si elle est heureuse, elle est toutefois un peu anxieuse: « Que se passera-t-il si je ne comprends pas la culture de Chia-Hao? Est-ce une bonne idée d’apporter un dessert? Je ne veux pas qu’il soit mal à l’aise. » C’est la première fois que María célèbre la nouvelle année dans un autre pays. De plus, ce sera une célébration taïwanaise. Son esprit tourne à toute vitesse.

終於到了要去家豪家的時候了！瑪莉亞整理好所有要帶的東西，她帶了剛做好的甜點還有她在巴賽隆納最喜歡的飲料。在公車上，她開始覺得緊張。一個來自西班牙的女孩要在魁北克和她的台灣朋友一起慶祝跨年，她很興奮但也同時感到不安。她心想：萬一我不夠瞭解家豪的文化，會不會發生什麼事？帶了甜點是正確的決定嗎？我不想要家豪感到不愉快。這是瑪莉亞第一次在異國慶祝跨年，而且還是台灣式的慶祝，她只覺得頭有點暈。
